Cosmopolitan
Perfectly pink and party-ready
About this cocktail
The Cosmopolitan owes most of its fame to a single decade and a single TV show. The drink itself predates Sex and the City; bartender Toby Cecchini popularized the modern version at the Odeon in lower Manhattan around 1988. Vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry concentrate, and a bare quarter-ounce of fresh lime. In freezer-batch form the cranberry holds its color for weeks; the lime is the time-limited ingredient. Use cranberry concentrate, not the bottled red juice from the supermarket. The concentrate gives the right body and the right pink.
Pick a cocktail to batch
Shaken citrus drinks pick up more water from ice. Spirit-forward stirred drinks need less; freezer batches often need none.
Your Batch
Aim for around 22% ABV or higher to keep the batch pourable in the freezer.
Remove this much spirit to make room. Save it for later.
